Spending Account Card FAQs

Where can I use my Zenda card?
If you only have an FSA, your Zenda debit card will work for FSA expenses at health care related merchants such as hospitals, vision, dental, and doctor’s offices, drugstores, pharmacies, and grocery stores that have implemented the IIAS (Inventory Information Approval System) or certified 90% of their gross sales are FSA eligible.

You can also use your Zenda card online to pay for eligible health expenses, including at drug & grocery stores retail sites.

Please keep in mind, if you have any ineligible items in your cart, you will be asked to provide another form of payment to cover those items.

Be sure to save your itemized receipts, bills, or statements any time the Zenda card is used.

The Zenda debit card CAN NOT be used to pay dependent care providers. The IRS requires the expense must be fully incurred before a reimbursement can be made. Therefore, you must submit an expense through the app or web site to use your DCFSA funds. See our Reimbursement & Claims FAQ below for more information.

Can I get a debit card for my spouse or dependent?
Yes, using the mobile app or website, you can request an additional debit card at no additional fee for your spouse or dependent 18 years of age or older. Please allow 7-10 business days from your request to receive the debit card in the mail.
What if I’m prompted to enter a PIN at checkout?
When you make a payment with your Zenda card, you may be prompted to enter a PIN. For a seamless payment experience follow these steps to avoid incorrectly declined transactions:

  1. Select “credit” on the PIN pad if that option is available.
  2. Simply press the green enter button, without entering a PIN, or any other numbers.
  3. If the first 2 steps don’t work, ask the cashier for assistance.

NOTE: When using your card at Walmart, you will be required to enter a PIN. They do not allow HSA or FSA cards to be used as “credit”. We recommend setting a PIN in the mobile app or website if you are a frequent Walmart shopper. See “How do I set/rest my PIN?” below for instructions.

How do I set/rest my PIN?
You can set and reset your PIN from the mobile app or website following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the My Zenda Card screen.
  2. Select the “Change PIN” option for the appropriate card.
  3. Enter a 4-digit PIN then re-enter the same 4-digits PIN and Submit.

Your PIN is now set and can be used to complete transactions.

What if I receive a card decline for an ineligible item but I’m confident it’s eligible?
In some cases, eligible items are not set up correctly in a merchant’s point-of-sale system. If you receive a card decline for an item you know is eligible, you can easily create an expense and submit the claim for reimbursement. Just be sure to attach your itemized receipt before submitting. See our Reimbursement & Claims FAQ below to learn more.
Why did I not receive a notification when my card was declined?
Some merchants have not yet complied with Visa/Mastercard guidelines on acceptance of some HSA and FSA cards and hence their point-of-sale systems summarily decline the cards and Zenda is unable to send a notification.

If you encounter such a situation, please send details of the store/merchant to support@getzenda.com so Zenda can advise you on any known problems. Please use an alternate payment method in this instance, and reimburse your expense from the mobile app or website, as appropriate.

What if I lose my card?
You can report a card lost from the mobile app or website. Navigate to the
“My Zenda Card” screen, and select the “Report Lost” action for the appropriate card. We will cancel the current card and re-issue you a new one. New cards generally take 5-7 business days to arrive in the mail.
