Skating Through the Year

Company highlights from 2023

Time flies when you’re having fun innovating in the payments space. With another year nearly in the books, we’re reflecting on a 2023 spent driving value for our partners and their customers. There’s no slowing down for industry leaders; we’re skating towards 2024 with an eye on new and improved services and capabilities. But that doesn’t mean we can’t take a moment to celebrate the things we’ve accomplished in the past 12 months.

What have we been up to this year? Here are just a few snapshots from the different areas where we shined in 2023:

Our payments technology touches a huge range of industries, and our experts are vigilant when it comes to ensuring our partners and their customers get the most out of our solutions. In 2023, we illustrated how payments technology connects tolling and transit agencies to retailers, explored the environmental impacts of prepaid card production and the options available to brands and merchants for supporting sustainability in the industry, and explained the gift card ecosystem and our role in evolving it over time.

We also demonstrated how our Dual Network Benefit Card™ enables healthcare plan members to use plan-sponsored benefit funds. Finally, we showed organizations how to streamline gift card ordering for corporate gifting, employee rewards, customer loyalty and more through our InComm InCentives Shop.

We’ve been busy adding more value to every transaction for consumers, merchants and brands across the payments ecosystem. In 2023, we were thrilled to announce the launch of InComm Payments Brazil Technology, an IT hub dedicated to developing payments solutions across retail, financial services, mobile payments and more. In addition, we introduced digital gift cards on Venmo and began managing the supply and fulfillment of gift card orders on Meal Train. Across the pond, we were honored to be selected as the exclusive supplier and distributor of Pandora Corporate Gift Cards in the United Kingdom, launching the brand’s digital gift card program for the U.K. B2B market.

In our commitment to excellence in payments technology and partner services, it’s always gratifying to be recognized for our efforts. This past year, we received several prestigious industry awards for our innovative products and difference-making client partnerships.

Among the honors, we teamed up with U.K. supermarket chain Sainsbury’s to win the “Team of The Year” award at the Gift Card & Voucher Association (GCVA) Hall of Fame Awards. InComm Healthcare’s Dual Network Benefit Card finished on top in the Consumer Innovation category at the Fintech Breakthrough Awards. And we were crowned the Top Employee Recognition Solutions Provider at the HR Tech Outlook Awards.

Whether sharing the latest shopping data or news about eco-friendly production, we go to great lengths to keep our brand and retail partners in the know about gift cards – from consumer trends to packaging, digital capabilities and e-commerce. This past year was no exception as we delivered our annual Gift Card Report, detailing current consumer buying habits and usage. We also held our Gift Card Summit, which brought InComm Payments employees and partners together for lively ideation sessions and discussions. To round out 2023, we produced an exciting new video about our gift card capabilities.

Our InComm Healthcare division dedicated this past year to building partnerships and implementing payments technology that support a wide range of reliable options for health plans and their members to help improve outcomes and decrease long-term costs. This year, we entered the employer health benefits category with our acquisition of Zenda, a developer of AI-powered health savings account (HSA) and flexible spending account (FSA) platforms, as well as powered initiatives to reduce food insecurity among local populations in West Virginia. We also established several new partnerships, laying the groundwork for health plans to introduce new ways members can use plan-sponsored funds on essential purchases:

Our partner services include regular consumer research, with the goal of arming brands and merchants with the latest consumer insights and preferences as their customers’ habits and expectations evolve. We cover a range of topics with our research, including quarterly, annual and ad hoc explorations into the areas that impact our clients and their customers.

This year’s consumer payments research focused on payment trends across generations, capturing how Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X and Boomers differ in their payment preferences. Meanwhile, our annual Holiday Study conveyed key consumer takeaways from shoppers prepping for an in-person-centric holiday season. And our aforementioned Gift Card Year in Review Report summarized annual findings from our quarterly research, which complemented our team’s efforts throughout the year working with clients and partners to deliver the unique insights that lead to valuable actions.

That’s a wrap on our 2023 recap! We can’t wait to hit the New Year running, continuing to devote our time and resources to supporting partners every day with a host of products, services and capabilities made fast and convenient through the power of a single integration.
