Returns Processing and Product Tracking
Refine Your Returns Process with InComm Product Control
InComm Product Control (IPC) offers an innovative solution for returns processing that tracks items rather than customer data to ensure accurate validations while reducing fraudulent returns.
Rethinking Returns
IPC improves the returns process and mitigates losses by tracking unique identifiers for individual items instead of customer data. IPC uses product identifiers to validate legitimate attempts without requiring a receipt, all while flagging fraudulent, out-of-policy or cross-retailer returns.
How it works:
Step 1:
When presented with a customer return, the retailer scans the item’s unique product code (UPC) and its serial number.
Step 2:
The scan initiates a real-time query to our IPC database, where the product’s transaction history and corresponding policies, terms and conditions are reviewed.
Step 3:
Depending on systematic responses configured by the merchant, the point-of-sale (POS) terminal accepts or declines the return attempt.
Step 4:
The merchant then has the information they need to make fast, consistent and accurate decisions about returns.
Track Products Rather Than Customers
InComm Product Control’s innovative technology focuses on product tracking instead of customer data. The solution captures an item’s unique identifier, such as a serial number, through the point of sale and other channel touchpoints. The product’s status from shipment to store to sales transaction is recorded for seamless lifecycle tracking and future queries, such as an attempted return. IPC’s robust reporting and analysis tracks trends and impacts, all while supporting FIFO compliance.
